Upcoming July Event with Montino Bourbon and Danny Paradise

Hello everyone……..We are please to inform all that Montino Bourbon and Danny Paradise will be returning to Estancia Rio Acima in July. For those who were here for Danny’s workshop a few years ago, http://dannyparadise.com/ you will remember Montino Bourbon, a master Sarod player and chef.

This July we will be having an extraordinary busy month with lots of yoga, Music, Culinary and shamanistic rituals. Montino will be arriving in late June with his partner who will be playing tabla. July 5 Danny Paradise arrives for a workshop that is still being determined however it may last for two weeks depending upon demand. July 14th is Forest’s 60th Birthday and it will be a extraordinary music event with Montino Bourbon and band, including, Adonai and Samara from Alfenas, wonderful musicians that many of you know. Of course we are waiting to see if Danny is going to be there as well as of course Forest with his harmonicas. This is only the beginning and we are confident that we are going to be totally full. However this year instead of just a weekend with Danny we are going to extend his stay here for at least ten days. After that……at the end of the month arrives Beto, our great friend and shaman. Check out our new addition….hammock over untroubled waters.

This New Years at Estançia Rio Acima was an incredible success with Beto and Gui…..Totally full with half our guest extending their stay for an extra week. It was one of those memorable events that people will be talking about for a long time. Between Gui’s yoga classes and Beto’s shamanic rituals and cleansings we had a special guest musician Adonai of Alfenas. Music, meditation, yoga, prana yama, herbal saunas, mud cleansing and great food. It was like a wonderful great family reunion…….we were all one family…..

UP DATE: What’s happening at Estancia Rio Acima

So much is going on here at Rio Acima that it is hard to keep up with the progress. This year we have been particularly busy with construction projects……The new bridge to the island that was lost in the January floods, new deck over the river, new loja (store) over looking the river, and another bridge to the lower part of the property that opens up the otherside of the river.

Everyone is saying we have transformed Rio Acima into another place. And it feels that way. Fortunately we are getting a lots of movement with workshops and friends of friends.
This year Beto has done five workshops with Temescal and Ayuahausca with great success and one more before the end of the year. Gui recently filled the house with a special program of music, yoga and slack line surfing. It was one of our better workshops with everyone enjoying themselves so much that half of the people stayed for an extra couple of days. Mathew and Carla of Ashtanga Spirit was also here with two workshops this year. We also had two groups of 50 teenagers who came this year for graduation. This was quite an under taking but we survived and everyone was happy……..They arrived in a huge city bus that could not pass over our bridges coming to the pousada so they had to hike two kms to get here…….Can you imagine……50 kids with supervisors walking down the dirt road to our place. It was a scene…….however, the kids had a great time and fortunately we had no major problems. Next year we have the pleasure of having Danny Paradise return to Brazil…..this will be his third time here and it is always and amazing time with music, yoga and wonderful food. We are going to try and get Montino Bourbon to return for this workshop as well….He is a master player of the Sarod, and Indian instrument somewhat like the sitar but played more like a guitar…..he is also a master chef. He was here on Danny’s first workshop……and in my opinion it was the most amazing workshop we have had to this date…….. There is big changes happening here in the south of Minas…..it is almost like it is being discovered by estrangerios…….lots of new people arriving bringing new energy and business to the region. We have had lots of guest who have been looking to buy land and have many contacts for people wanting to sell…….Land prices in this region is still very very good when comparing to Rio or SP or the the rest of the world. Lots for as little as 30,000 reais to acres for 150,000. With many many in between.

musico. Com amigos como Sting, Dominic Miller, Bruce Springstein, Paul Simon, Madonna e varios outros Danny e reconhecido por todos, com o seu estilo unico. Ele produziu dois fantasticos CDs com a ajuda de Sting, Dominic Miller e Paul Simon.
Quando Danny realiza os seus encontros de yoga, todos os dias acontecem
momentos musicais.
Aqui na Estancia estes encontros tem a participacao de Forest Sprague, grande amigo e tambem o produtor de seu primeiro disco 45rpm em 1978, em Honolulu, Hawaii.

Escalada Pedra do Picu

Ha mais de 20 anos queria escalar a Pedra do Picu! Demorou, mas aqui estive apos o Carnaval de 2010, tendo a felicidade de passar momentos super agradaveis na Estancia Rio Acima. O Picu e uma linda pedra, com rotas elegantes e cheias de agarras, e esta bem aqui do lado! Aproveitei e matei as saudades das Agulhas Negras, tendo como base este pedaco de paraiso tao bem cuidado pela Marcinha e sua equipe! Da Estancia Rio Acima ate a parte alta do Parque Nacional de Itatiaia leva-se apenas uma horinha de carro. A comida saudavel e bem caseira, o barulhinho do rio e o aconchego dos chales, garantem o animo para no dia seguinte a gente ir em busca de mais um pouco dessa linda natureza da Mantiqueira. Venha voce tambem!
